Batticaloa

One of three warmest cities in Sri Lanka the others are Trincomalee, and Vavuniya. The climate in Batticaloa range from 30 0C to 40 0C depending on the seasons. From March to November runs the summer season while the monsoon season runs from December to February.

Rice and coconuts are the two major agricultural products of the district. It is famous for its "singing fish," supposed to be shell-fish which give forth musical notes. Veddahs are have lived in this area in older time. It is full of ancient Buddhists archeological sites as well

 

Trincomalee

Is a port city on the northeast coast of Sri Lanka which is known for its natural deep-water harbour. The town is built on a cape which divides the inner and outer harbors . The harbor is well-known for its large size and security; unlike every other harbour in the Indian Ocean, it is accessible to all types of craft in all weathers. The beaches are famous for surfing, scuba diving and fishing and whale watching.

The Koneswaram temple attracted pilgrims from all parts of India. The ancient temple Sri Gonakanda Buddhist temple had stood at the site of the Koneswaram temple until about the 12th century.

Known as to be a pre-Christian Buddhist heritage. These sites are sacred to both the Hindus and Buddhists. Tiriyayi ,located Twenty-nine miles north of Trincomalee, contains the ruins of an ancient Buddhist monastery. The remains includes , a distinctively Sinhalese circular architectural form called Vatadage. In the center of the site is a ruined stupa.

There are the seven hot springs on the road to Trincomalee which attracts locals from all parts of the country.
