Uva Province << Back
Known as the second least populated province in Sri Lanka. It includes Badulla district and Monaragala district. Badulla is the provincial capital. Dunhinda falls, Diyaluma Falls, Rawana Falls, the Yala National Park and Gal Oya National Park are highly attractive tourist destinations. The Gal Oya hills and the Central mountains are the main uplands, while the Mahaweli and Menik rivers runs through this area. Also the huge Senanayake Samudraya and Maduru Oya located here.
Badulla
Namunukula mountain which stands tallest among the mountain range surrounding the Badulla town. From Namunukula peak on a clear day it is possible to have a spectacular views of Welimada basin, Katharagama and Hambantota beach. It is magnificent to see sun rise and sun set too.
mount Kirigalpottha known to be the tallest in Haputale mountain range. On a clear day, Haputale-Beragala gap gives a splendid view of the Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces.
Matale
A town in the hill country of Sri Lanka. The Matale administrative district contains the historic Sigiriya rock castle(citadel), Aluvihare temple and Dambulla temple. The Aluvihare Temple, on the North side of the Matale town is reputed as the place where Buddhist teachings were first written in text form on ola leaf.
The Knuckles foothills called Wiltshire surrounds the Matale town . This is an agricultural area, where mostly vegetable and spice cultivation is done .
